If you need reassurance, get it from a short, sharp effort rather than a long one. A few minutes at race intensity inside an otherwise easy session will tell you far more about your readiness than an extra ninety-minute ride, and it costs almost nothing in fatigue.
What Does a Taper That Actually Works Look Like?
The structure is simple to describe and hard to execute, because executing it means tolerating the discomfort described above.
